Apprentice – Health and Social Care

  • Fixed term contract initially for 12 months
  • Hilltop House, 2 Heldhaw Road, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, IP32 7ER
  • Starting salary year 1: £9,126 per annum
  • 37.5 hours per week – 2 days of on the job learning and 3 shifts per week - this may include weekend working

We are seeking an Apprentice to make a real difference to the lives of our residents, providing care and support to adults with physical disabilities.

We are looking for an individual who wants to work with people to provide dignity, respect and personalised care for all aspects of their lives.

The role of Apprentice – Health and Social Care will include:

  • Learning about the needs of a person living with physical disabilities
  • Assisting with all aspects of day to day life
  • Assisting residents with all aspects of personal care
  • Ensuring the highest standards of care are provided to residents while maintaining their dignity at all times
  • Getting involved in general activities within the scheme
  • Welcoming any visitors to the scheme and helping families and carers contribute to the support we offer

Skills and experiences:

  • Numeracy and literacy equivalent to GCSE grade C (4 – 9) in Maths and English desirable
  • Good listener with lots of patience and the ability to have a good chat
  • Kind and caring and someone who sees the person at the heart of their care
  • Dedicated with a lot of drive and ambition
  • Good communication skills and someone with initiative.
  • Passionate about working in a residential or supported living environment and supporting people to lead full and active lives
  • Committed and enthusiastic with an adaptable approach
