Night Care and Support Assistant – Temporary position for up to 6 months

Avalon Court, Ipswich

£8.42 to £8.68 per hour (dependent on qualifications)

25 hours per week over a two week rolling rota

We are currently recruiting for a Night Care and Support Assistant to provide personal care and support to our clients at Avalon Court.

Located on the Ipswich waterfront, Avalon Court has 14 self-contained apartments for adults with a physical or learning disability. We are looking for a person who is passionate about making a real difference to people’s lives. This Night Care and Support Assistant position gives you the opportunity to support a person with a physical disability throughout the night, following a recent increase in needs. We are looking for candidates with a compassionate outlook on life, who value kindness and patience and treat others with dignity and respect. This position will be focused in one client’s flat and the successful candidate will be supported by a second Night Care and Support Assistant and a sleep in member of staff within the building.

The role of Night Care and Support Assistant will include:

  • Providing personal care to a client, including washing, dressing and toileting
  • Supporting people with communication difficulties
  • Supporting manual handling needs
  • Providing emotional support and reassurance
  • Responding to individual client needs

Skills and experiences:

  • NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care, or willing to work towards
  • Previous experience in a similar care role is desirable
  • A patient and caring attitude
  • Enthusiastic and flexible with a strong “can-do” attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • An understanding of Huntington’s Disease would be beneficial, though training will be provided
