Care and Support Assistant

Seaside Care Services, Eastbourne

£8.26 to £8.69 per hour (dependent on qualifications)

37.5 hours per week – 5 working days including early and late shifts over a 7 day week

We are seeking a Care and Support Assistant to make a real difference to the lives of our residents. Seaside Care Services supports 18 clients in their flats (who all have their own tenancies) with accessing the community. We have 5 physically disabled clients, who require full personal care (washing, dressing, toileting and meal preparation). We also have 13 clients who have mental health diagnoses. You will support all clients in their day to day routines, but have up to 3 clients that you key work, alongside permanent staff. The team of 12 staff at Seaside is a small, closely knit one and we support each other in all areas. Tasks are varied and the client group is established. We are situated on a main bus route and also have ample parking on site.

The role of Care and Support Assistant will include:

  • Providing a high quality person centred care and support service in line with client and organisational needs
  • Key working, including supporting clients in the community and taking them to appointments
  • Providing personal care, meal preparation, administering medication and writing support notes
  • Working with clients, in order to maximise their independence
  • Responsibilities for areas such as Health and Safety and COSHH

Skills and experiences:

  • Person-centered approach, with experience of working in a similar care related role
  • Enthusiastic and flexible with a strong “can-do” attitude
  • Strong organisational skills as well as functional literacy and numeracy
  • Ability to react quickly to changing priorities whilst working to deadlines and targets
  • NVQ 2 in Health and Social Care, or willing to work towards
  • Confident and articulate in both written and verbal communications
  • Travel is not required as part of the role, only for attending training courses
