Project Worker – Temporary position for up to 10 months

Old Johnson House, Sittingbourne

£9.66 per hour (rising to £10.17 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)

30 hours per week on a rolling rota, including weekends and public holidays

We are seeking a Project Worker to make a real difference to the lives of our residents. Old Johnson House provides support to young people, particularly those aged 16-17 who are at risk of homelessness, in line with the Joint Protocol for Homeless 16 and 17 year olds. A small number of statutory young people aged over 21 (care leavers) may also be eligible based on individual circumstances. You will assist in sourcing appropriate and affordable accommodation, and provide housing management support that will enable eligible young people to enter and maintain their own tenancies and manage their rental payments. The role of Project Worker will include:

  • Ensuring relevant support is provided to enable our service users to pay their own rent
  • Regular key working and support planning to develop a high quality, person-centred service
  • Assessing service user needs and assisting with benefit applications, including housing benefit
  • Issuing Occupancy Agreements
  • To build and maintain working relationships between the local authority, Social Services and a wide range of local statutory and voluntary agencies
  • Managing antisocial behavior

Skills and experiences:

  • A sound knowledge of housing management, including voids and arrears management is essential
  • The ability to work on your own initiative and source innovative solutions for complex circumstances
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills allowing you to build strong working relationships
  • An understanding of occupancy agreements is desirable
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel or similar
  • Occasional travel may be a requirement of the role, therefore a full valid driving licence is desirable
