Support Assistant – Part Time

Drawbridge House, Bridgwater

£8.68 per hour (rising to £9.14 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)

25 hours per week

Drawbridge House is an eight bed supported living scheme which uses shared living to enable residents with learning disabilities/difficulties to achieve their best outcomes.

We have a great opportunity for a Support Assistant with passion and drive to provide support with daily living skills. You will use your experience and knowledge to work with colleagues and partner agencies enabling our residents to achieve their potential by promoting their independence and choices.

The role of Support Assistant will include:

  • Providing a high quality, hands-on person centred care and support service which empowers our clients
  • Ensuring that clients are supported by developing their daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, staying safe and being part of their community
  • Positive approach to managing challenging behaviour
  • Working with colleagues and partner agencies to achieve the best outcome for our clients

Skills and experiences:

  • Ideally you will have experience of working with vulnerable adults with learning difficulties, however candidates with enthusiasm and a real passion for the role and a willingness to learn, are encouraged to apply, as we are committed to delivering a tailored training programme
  • Initiative and assertiveness will also be key to your success, as you will be required to source innovative solutions to problems, that allow independence to be maximised
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational, listening and time management skills, allowing you to form positive relationships with people
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
