Support Assistant – Part Time

Oleander House, Ketley Park Road, Telford

£8.28 per hour (rising to £8.72 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)

30 hours per week

We are seeking a Support Assistant to make a real difference to the lives of our residents. Oleander House is a purpose-built development offering single apartments for 12 adults with learning disabilities. If you want to make a positive impact to people’s lives, this is a rewarding opportunity to come and join our small, friendly and supportive team.

The role of Support Assistant will include:

  • Supporting the Project Workers with key-working duties
  • Providing a person centred service to empower clients in developing their skills for independent living and community integration
  • Maintaining a safe environment for clients, providing support in accordance with relevant regulations, procedures and practices
  • Assisting with providing personal care and administering medication
  • Helping to maintain professional relationships with clients and their families to support their identified wishes and needs.

Skills and experiences:

  • Previous experience working in care, ideally with clients who have learning disabilities, would be advantageous
  • A caring approachable nature and a confident ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Ability to keep accurate records and clearly communicate relevant information to team members.
  • Literacy and numeracy equivalent to at least GCSE Grade C English and Mathematics, is essential
  • NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care, or willing to work towards, is desirable
  • A full driving licence would be preferred as you might be required to drive clients mobility vehicles
