Withipoll Street provides female only accommodation with support for 10 single women aged 16 and over, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The supported housing services provides a safe and stable environment for females who may have experienced domestic abuse, relationship breakdowns or exploitation.

Two self-contained flats, each with a bedroom, lounge/diner, kitchen and bathroom, and eight single-occupancy bedrooms. All flats and bedrooms are fully-furnished.

A lounge, kitchen, bathrooms, laundry room and garden. Please note that Withipoll Street may not be suitable for those who have difficulty with mobility.

All rooms are let on excluded licence agreements and flats are let on protected licence agreements.

Support planning

Everyone is supported to achieve greater independence. Staff draw up a personalised support plan with residents using the Homelessness Outcomes Star model, to help them achieve their aims and goals. Staff support residents to manage and improve their personal safety and improve social, emotional and mental wellbeing.

Staff availability

Our highly-trained staff are on-site during office hours, giving residents peace of mind that support is on-hand. There is an overnight concierge service seven days a week and an out-of-hours telephone service, should residents require any further support.

  • Maintaining a tenancy
  • Managing finances (budgeting and benefits)
  • Socialising and community involvement
  • Building confidence, resilience and self-esteem
  • Managing rent and rent arrears
  • Dealing with correspondence
  • Accessing education, training and work
  • Maintaining health, safety and security
  • Signposting and accessing other services
  • Planning a successful move-on

If in receipt of housing benefit the majority of costs will be covered, but residents will need to pay a small weekly charge.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a place at Withipoll Street, applicants must:

  • Be a single female
  • Be aged 16 or over
  • Be homeless or at risk of homelessness
  • Be in need of support and would benefit from accessing a female-only environment.

How to apply

To apply, please complete Suffolk County Council’s application for housing-related support. All support needs will be assessed before an application is accepted
