Based in Canterbury but working across the wider East Kent area, including Thanet and Swale, East Kent Young People Floating Support provides housing-related floating support for young people aged 16 to 25, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, including children in care and care leavers.

At a glance

  • Housing-related support five days a week, during office hours
  • Tailored and flexible support packages
  • Support in the home (or somewhere of the client’s choosing) and local community

Support planning

Staff assist clients to create a personalised support plan, to identify their personal goals and take the steps needed to become more independent. We support young people who live in their own homes but are at risk of homelessness, as well as supporting homeless young people in the community. Our support is flexible and personalised to individual needs.

Staff availability

Our highly-trained staff provide housing-related support five days a week, during office hours. We also provide contact information if additional out-of-hours support is required. Available in the home or a location in the local area, support is flexible and personalised to individual needs. We provide weekly contact, but this can vary to suit the client’s needs.

Tailored support, advice and assistance includes

  • Managing housing-related issues such as homelessness, evictions and re-settlement
  • Securing and maintaining a tenancy
  • Transitioning to a new tenancy
  • Moving into, or out of, supported housing
  • Finding suitable accommodation
  • Applying for accommodation via social or private landlords
  • Signposting and accessing other services
  • Managing finances (budgeting and benefits)
