Supported living residents speak up about mental health

19 May 2017

Residents at a supported living scheme in Dodworth, Barnsley, have come together to learn about each other’s mental health experiences as part of Mental Health Awareness Week.

Those staying at Sanctuary Supported Living’s High Street scheme attended a BBQ and did some communal gardening, encouraging social interaction between them and giving them an opportunity to discuss mental health, the issues they face and how they feel they are coping.

One resident, Shannon Allgood, also took the opportunity to write a poem about her mental health experience which was printed onto postcards she’d designed and handed out in Barnsley town centre.
