Tenant engagement shortlisting for supported housing provider

14 March 2018

Sanctuary Supported Living (SSL) has been shortlisted for the Tpas Awards 2018, following its adoption of a ‘Family and Friends Test’ for gathering service feedback.

Tenant engagement shortlisting for supported housing provider.

The national care and support provider ranks among the contenders for the Excellence in Engagement – Supported Housing (Central Region) category, which looks to showcase examples of organisations involving tenants in reviewing and improving services.

The ‘Family and Friends Test’ sees Sanctuary residents from both SSL services and general needs housing visit supported housing properties and extra care schemes and share their thoughts on the places they visit.

As the name suggests, the key value of the test lies in whether the residents would be happy for their friends and family members to live at the service, based upon their experience during the visit.

Sue Ralph, a general needs housing resident from Tividale, is lead resident on the project and mentors others from across Sanctuary services who wish to take part.

Feedback from Sue and others involved in the test has helped shape the facilities of these services, from the installation of a quiet space for confidential conversations at one property to the format of menus at an extra care scheme.

“The range of perspectives offered by the Family and Friends Test has made tangible differences to our services and we’re thrilled to see that impact recognised by the Tpas Awards.”

Tpas are England’s leading tenant engagement experts, bringing landlords, tenants and contractors together to find solutions to improve services, save money and bring lasting change to communities.

Winners for the Tpas Awards Central Region will be announced at an awards ceremony in Solihull on 20 April.
