Today (Friday 31 August) sees Starts At Home Day, a national day of action to celebrate the help hundreds of thousands of vulnerable people receive to gain their independence and confidence through supported housing.

Now in its third year, the campaign is run by the National Housing Federation, which represents social landlords to around 6 million people.

SSL has been working with the NHF to provide case studies highlighting the benefits of supported housing to people with a range of backgrounds, from people who have experienced homelessness to those with mental health needs or learning disabilities.

A number of events at SSL services have also been organised for the coming months to showcase the effectiveness and positive impact of its personalised support on individuals and communities across the country.

SSL operations director Sara Keetley said: “We believe supported housing plays a vital role in society and, along with the NHF, we want to be vocal about its importance.

“We’ve seen first-hand how our services can transform individuals, who often arrive at some of the worst points in their lives, into people who are confident, thriving and ready to face the challenges of independent living.”
