Launching new community hub

12 November 2018

Brighton residents are invited to the launch of a new community hub in the city, bringing together a young people’s housing service with a new resource for local organisations and support groups.

Welcome to the foyer sign at the new community hub

Sanctuary Supported Living’s (SSL) Brighton and Hove Foyer, on Pelham Street, will be unveiling the new resource, which offers two conference rooms and IT suite for hire, from 10.30am to 3.30pm on Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 November.

Bookings from groups offering events for young people, or centred around young people’s services, are encouraged by the Foyer and may be able to benefit from discounted room hire.

The events will also offer a chance to learn more about the supported housing Brighton and Hove Foyer provides for young people aged 16 to 25.

The service has a history of community engagement, including supporting residents to lead on local campaigns, such as ‘Should I Stay, or Should I Go?’ which encouraged young people to weigh up the pros and cons of leaving home.

Jan Weston, the SSL support worker who oversaw the campaign, this year received a national Spark Award from the Foyer Federation for her work.

Local service manager Stephanie Smith said: “Brighton Foyer has always been keen to ensure our service and our residents are a key part of the community in the city.

Refreshments will provided. For more information, call Brighton & Hove Foyer on 01273 242700.

The launch of our new community hub is the next step in showing people what we have to offer as a resource.
