Residents from a Petersfield care home have raised a glass after an unused shed was transformed into a brand new communal area.

Located at Tilmore Gardens – which is owned and managed by Sanctuary Supported Living (SSL) and offers care and support to adults with learning disabilities – the new shared space is themed around a traditional pub.

Features include a bar and beer pump, pool table and even a bell for calling last orders, with an exterior sign declaring the pub’s name as the ‘Tilmore Arms’.

The conversion of the shed into the brand new facility follows a second refurbishment project earlier this year, which saw a summer patio area installed in the garden.

SSL’s local service manager at Tilmore Gardens, Nikki Bedford, commented: “The residents are absolutely thrilled that the ‘Tilmore Arms’ is officially open! The space is set to provide a fantastic area for the residents to socialise, and we hope to organise themed evenings for everyone to take part in.

“The residents chose the pub theme as something that would offer a relaxed environment and a great source of entertainment for them and their families.”
