Montague Road Nursing Home was awarded the highest grading following an unannounced inspection by England’s health and social care regulator.

It is the fourth Sanctuary Supported Living service to be given the top rating since December after successes for Clover Court in Lowestoft, Tilmore Gardens in Petersfield and Corner House Residential Care Home in Mansfield.

Sara Keetley, Operations Director – Sanctuary Supported Living, said: “I am immensely proud of all our staff at Montague Road and I’m delighted that the care they provide our residents has been recognised in this way.

“To have a fourth service rated as Outstanding by the CQC is simply amazing and is a testament to our efforts in providing the highest levels of care and support.”

Inspectors described the home, which provides nursing care and support for up to 24 residents with mental health needs aged over 55, as being “extremely well-led” and that “people and staff were truly involved in the running of the service and consistently consulted”.

They said that “systems to monitor and assess the service were robust and supported the provider to continuously improve the service”.
Home manager Milly Gaskin “led by example”, the CQC report stated, and “staff working in the service were highly motivated and proud of the high-quality care provided to people”.

A card received from a relative said: “A heartfelt thanks to you all for the tenderness and care you gave to my family member. It was above and beyond and such a comfort to know they were fabulously looked after.”

Services at Montague Road were “tailored to meet the needs of individuals and delivered to ensure flexibility, choice and continuity of care”. This included detailed guidance on how people were supported to reduce anxiety and distress.

The environment also helped people with dementia and sensory loss through the way the garden was designed, while flooring had been installed to reduce the risk of falls.

Home manager Milly Gaskin added: “To receive this rating from the CQC is a huge honour and one that is the result of tremendous hard work by everyone at Montague Road.”
