Supermarket kindness for Telford supported housing residents
Residents at a supported housing service in Oakengates, Telford, have received a donation of items worth £250, thanks to the generosity of their local Asda supermarket.

Staff at Sanctuary Supported Living’s Station Mews, which provides accommodation with personalised care and support for people with learning disabilities, were overwhelmed when June Walker, the Donnington Wood store’s Community Champion, contacted them to say that the service was eligible for a health and wellbeing grant.
The grant aims to support the physical health and mental wellbeing of the residents at Station Mews, so staff put together a shopping trolley of fun items including craft packs, DVDs and gardening tools. They also added some tasty treats and decorations for residents to enjoy at their upcoming summer fête.

Melissa Knox, Local Service Manager
Melissa Knox, Local Service Manager at Station Mews, said: “June and the team at Asda have been incredibly generous to us throughout the last 18 months, including at Christmas and Easter, with this most recent donation being the icing on the cake. These treats have all made such a difference to residents’ mental health, especially as many of them were shielding and unable to see loved ones during lockdown. We’d all like to say a big thank you to the Asda team for their ongoing support; it really means such a lot.”
