Three decades of support celebrated at New Milton housing service

24 October 2018

A New Milton supported housing service has marked three decades of supporting local adults at a special event.

Residents and staff celebrating

30th anniversary

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Sanctuary Supported Living (SSL) services in New Milton – which provide personal and general care for people with learning disabilities – residents enjoyed a party with family and friends.

VIP guests

Guests of honour were Jane Passfield and Steve Aust, a staff member and resident respectively, who have both been based at the service since it first opened its doors.

The service is spread across two sites, one at Manor Road, which opened in 1988, and Old Milton Road, which was added five years later.

Second celebration

The party was the second celebration of the year, following an unannounced Care Quality Commission inspection in June which saw the service retain its ‘Good’ rating.

“Commitment of the staff”

SSL’s local service manager. Alison Notman said: “Everyone had a fantastic time at the party, and it’s testament to the commitment of the staff that the service has been operating for three decades.

“I look forward to the future of our service, and continuing to help our residents gain and maintain their independence.”

Steve Aust, who has lived at the service for the 30 years it has been open, added: “I was proud to give a speech at the party about my time at the service. The staff are great and I really enjoy living here.”

It’s testament to the commitment of the staff that the service has been operating for three decades.
