Alison’s charity, Friends of Sycamore Court, has raised thousands of pounds for the service, which had provided care and support for her son Dunkan, for more than 30 years.

Sycamore Court underwent a £280,000 redevelopment in 2018 and Alison was one of the guests of honour at their Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-themed reopening event, where she was presented with flowers to recognise her contribution to all the residents.

Over the last three decades, the charity set up by Alison has paid for resident holidays, day trips, presents for residents without immediate family and a host of activities, including gardening equipment during lockdown.

Alison’s family – husband David, son Jonathan and his wife, Mandy, have vowed to continue the charity in her memory, alongside her best friend Carol, who has acted as treasurer.

Siobhan South, Local Service Manager at Sycamore Court, said: “Everything Alison did was about supporting all the residents – whether it was making her famous pickles, organising raffles or running stalls at local events. While Covid restrictions were in place, she was a familiar face visiting on Fridays to have breakfast in the garden at a distance. She has made such a big difference to all our lives. She will be much missed.”
