6 January 2020

Plymouth Domestic Abuse Services would like to say thank you for festive donations to residents

Thank you from Plymouth Domestic Abuse ServicesPDAS staff say thank you for Christmas donations.
  • The festivities started with a beautiful real tree donated once again from Crownhill Garden Centre.
  • Goodies and advent calendars were kindly donated by Karen and her team at The Insolvency Service and The Family Law Company, with Alex and Lauren joining us for Christmas crafts!
  • We welcomed Tami from Food is Fun CIC, who made delicious mince pies with our families. We then repurposed the mincemeat jars as snow globes!
  • The congregations of Hope Baptist Church, and Compton Methodist Church, gave a warm welcome to our children’s worker at their Sunday services and donated beautiful toys for all ages.
  • We were once again grateful for support from The Redeemer Church, The Church of Jesus Christ and The Latter-Day Saints, and St Catherine’s Baptist Church – a huge thank you to all.
  • The Christmas elves in Mrs Shaw’s foundation class at Holy Cross collected gifts, goodies, and essentials – we were overwhelmed by their generosity and kindness.
  • Thank you also to all the students at King’s School for the heartfelt shoeboxes – the thought that was put into each and everyone was lovely.
  • Customers of the Kings Head rallied around, donating gifts and vouchers for activities that will give our families the opportunity have fun and make new memories.
  • Tamar Housing and the team at Livewell donated beautiful gift sets, pyjamas, and goodies for our ladies and gentlemen, who deserved to be spoilt!
  • Local businesses Shipton Building Society and China Fleet provided us with wonderful gifts and goodies for all.
  • Donations and offers of support came from as far afield as Exeter, with staff at the MD Group and members of Exeter Women’s Institute donating gifts and essentials – our families love snuggling up with the cosy throws.
  • Thank you also to Sarah and all at the DWP, and Kim and her team at Premier Care – we were overwhelmed by your generosity.
  • Thank you to Kirstie and all at the midwifery department for your donation, and the support, care, and compassion you have given to our clients this year.
  • We once again received support from KidsOut, a wonderful charity which provides toys and experiences to disadvantaged children, including those living in refuges and temporary accommodation. It meant so much for our mums to be able to choose gifts for their children.
  • A special thank you to Rachel and Indie, Rosie and family, Kelly, Gemma, Jackie, Lisa Howard, and all the individuals and families who donated and reached out. It was wonderful to hear from so many who had been in similar situations themselves, and who are now thriving and free from abuse.
  • Thank you to Plymouth Party Princesses, the NSPCC team and Pantosaurus, Santa and his elves at Santa’s Grotto in the Indoor Market, and Dartmoor Railway for giving our families the opportunity to make new, happy memories!
  • A big thank you from all the staff and residents to Rev Bev, Jenny, and the congregation of Emmanuel Church for your continuing support.
  • A huge thank you to Chantal for your support and donations throughout the year. Because of your generosity, we have been able to give every child a birthday present this year!
  • Thank you to Heather and Plymouth Raiders for the bobble hats, hoodies, and t-shirts.
  • Thank you to Plymouth Lions for your continuing support. Thanks to you, every child receives a backpack full of lovingly packed essentials, and a toy box containing carefully chosen toys and activities. To a child who has left everything behind, this means so much.
  • Danielle at Truly Scrumptious Sweet Boutique. Thank you for the delicious hot chocolate reindeer cones, which our residents enjoyed on Christmas Eve!
  • And a final thank you to Marc, for all you do for us.
