Homelessness service sees in Halloween with spooktacular party
Residents of a Colchester supported housing service have been showing off their skills and achievements with a haunting Halloween party featuring homemade food and pumpkin carving.
Sanctuary Supported Living’s Queen Elizabeth Way, which provides supported accommodation for homeless people, held the celebratory event on Friday (27 October) and invited friends, family members and local services in to learn more about life at the service.
Visitors saw residents’ achievements recognised as they were presented with certificates, and were also treated to graffiti workshops to showcase residents’ interests.
The open day was also attended by local care farm Wellies On, which brought along its ‘flat-pack farm’ with animals including ponies and goats to highlight caring for the land, environment and people.
Local service manager Sarah Cole said: “Our residents play a key role in the development of their service and help to shape events and activities like our Halloween parties.

“They’d been looking forward to showing off their skills both in the kitchen and on the graffiti wall for a long time so this party was a fantastic afternoon for them.”
