Sanctuary Supported Living launches rough sleeper support in Basildon
A new rough sleeper support initiative has launched in Basildon, helping people who are homeless and sleeping rough to overcome the barriers they face in finding a home.

Run by Sanctuary Supported Living in partnership with Basildon Council, staff at Basildon Homeless Outreach service provide community-based outreach support for long-term and entrenched rough sleepers, as well as those who are newly homeless and sleeping rough. Staff will help people to find appropriate accommodation and provide support with applying for financial assistance and managing a tenancy, with the aim of breaking the cycle of repeat homelessness.
Basildon Homeless Outreach is an extension of Sanctuary Supported Living’s homelessness services already available in the region. Thurrock Homelessness service provides accommodation, support and community outreach for homeless adults and families, and Thurrock Teenage Parents Supported Housing offers accommodation and support for homeless young parents, aged 16 to 25.
Kelly Cross, Sanctuary Supported Living’s Area Service Manager for Essex, said: “We are so pleased to be working with Basildon Council to offer more support to people who are sleeping rough in the local area. We hope that, with support from our experienced team, people sleeping rough in Basildon can turn their lives around and look forward to a brighter future.”
