Jenny's Blog 1: December 2018
Jenny is a resident at Norman Russell House supported housing service in Milton Keynes. Jenny is writing this blog as a way to share her experience of facing mental ill-health and share her journey with others. Jenny’s blog will talk about her feelings at the time, the support she has received and how she is working to improve her mental health.
My name is Jenny Doyle. I have lived at Norman Russell House since February 2016.
I was offered a place here due to my poor mental health state. However, in September 2016 I was also diagnosed with a form of high functioning autism called Pathological Demand Avoidance. My journey to improve my mental health has been bumpy but I have had fantastic support from the staff at Norman Russell House, as well as higher management.
The staff here will support you to improve your mental health by using a programme called the ‘Mental Health Recovery Star’ and supporting you to meetings and appointments.
They will also meet with you on a regular basis to see how you are getting on, and find out if you need any more support from outside agencies and then signpost you to the relevant people or team.
