Christmas came early for those living at a supported housing scheme in Hull thanks to a visit from Hull City football club’s famous mascot.
Rory the Tiger jumped on board a double decker bus to visit residents at Sanctuary Supported Living’s (SSL) Donnington Court, which provides accommodation for homeless families.
Organised by the Hull Homeless Community Project (HHCP), in partnership with the local Tesco and His Church, the visit saw Rory welcome residents onto the bus before handing out Christmas gifts to everyone, including balloons, food hampers, toys and treats.
There was also an extra special surprise for the residents when Santa arrived to hand out more presents.
Prior to the visit, the residents took part in an arts and craft session which saw them create some festive decorations.
Denise Masike, SSL local services manager, said: “Seeing our residents’ faces when both Rory and Santa arrived made my day. They were so excited and grateful for the gifts and I know it will have made a huge difference.
“Our residents play a key role in the development of their service, in particular helping to shape events and activities such as the arts and craft session, which they loved.”
