Cooking competition at Hartlepool supported service
Residents at Sanctuary Supported Living’s Victoria Road in Hartlepool held a Come Dine With Me competition social distancing style.

The activity was organised as a way to keep residents engaged and developing their meal planning and cooking skills, as staff continue to support them during lockdown.
The young people living at the service were helped by staff to plan, prepare and cook their favourite menus to impress their fellow residents. After scoring all the finished dishes, everyone got to enjoy their own food. The winning menu was pizza followed by a dessert of chocolate cheesecake.
Sonya Ellerton, Local Service Manager, said: “It was great to see everyone taking part and having fun, as well as being so confident in the kitchen.”
Victoria Road is a supported housing service which provides accommodation and support to young people aged 16 to 25, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Staff provide residents with personalised support, which may include learning how to cook, clean, manage their finances or find meaningful work or educational opportunities, so that they can one day live independently.
