Ste Moran
For Ste Moran, the support of the team at his Sanctuary Supported Living mental health service has meant he has returned from the brink of suicide.
The 47-year-old, who has lived at Church Road in Liverpool for 10 years, first came to the service following multiple overdose attempts. He needed intensive support with a range of different issues, including day-to-day activities and medical appointments.
Ste said: “In the three years before arriving at Church Road, I had lived in 11 different places, so I was very unsettled. I was taking medication overdoses two or three times a week, and I had also been targeted with anti-social behaviour in my previous accommodation.
“Since living here, my biggest achievement is no longer feeling the need to take overdoses. I have a lovely home and a pet cat. The main thing for me is feeling happy and safe, and having people around me I can talk to.”
Ste has been able to take regular holidays since moving into Church Road, now taking on the responsibility of organising them himself.
He added: “This is the best place I’ve ever lived. I trust my key worker and other members of staff, and I feel I can talk to them if I’m ever feeling really low or having suicidal thoughts.”
This is the best place I’ve ever lived.
