Duncan Bailey - "I try to make sure that residents are always heard."

Creating a community hub for homeless people in Brighton has been a key achievement for project worker Duncan Bailey.

Duncan, who started working for Sanctuary Supported Living in January 2017, has worked in the social care sector for most of his career. In September 2018 he launched the community hub at Brighton Foyer, a dedicated space for people from all walks of life to come together.

The team led on workshops covering a range of different issues including cooking, drug education and budgeting. In addition, a sensory room is used by counsellors for the benefit of local residents.

Duncan said: “The community hub is a fantastic resource and the team really came together to make it happen.

“Working with this team is one of the best parts about my job, I can honestly say they’re the most supportive people I’ve ever worked with. I know that if I’m ever in doubt about anything I can ask for advice, and I’ll always be listened to."

Some of my proudest moments at work have involved working with residents to make sure they’re heard, and that they’re receiving all the support they’re entitled to.
