Lorraine Wilson

Lorraine Wilson’s passion for working with homeless people led her to her dream job with Sanctuary Supported Living.

Lorraine talks to a resident of Brighton and Hove Foyer.

A project worker in the Brighton team since 2014, Lorraine’s main focus is the rough sleepers’ initiative that aims to help former rough sleepers become independent in their own homes.

Lorraine realised early in her life that her vocation was to help other people.

After completing a sociology degree in her 40s, Lorraine worked in the mental health sector, before specialising in supporting homeless people.

As a young teenager, I volunteered at the local hospital in my spare time, and that’s when I really found my passion.

Lorraine said: “As a group, I feel that rough sleepers can be a forgotten cause, but in reality, any one of us could only be a few steps away from ending up on the streets.

“My biggest motivator coming to work every day is being able to help others to empower themselves. I feel so proud whenever a resident moves on or secures some voluntary work.”
