Staying away from home

On this page

At Sanctuary Supported Living, your safety and wellbeing matter. If you're away from home - whether it’s planned or unexpected we’ll do everything we can to support you.

If our teams are not sure where you are or are concerned about your safety, they’ll take steps to check you're safe and well. Our response will depend on whether you’re absent (if you’re not where we expected, but there’s no immediate concern) or if you’re missing (we don’t know where you are and are worried you may be at risk).

How we’ll support you

When you move in, we’ll agree how to keep in touch and what to do if you’re ever missing. If we’re concerned, we’ll try to contact you, speak to your agreed contacts, and take action based on your level of risk which may include contacting the police or your social worker.

When you return

We’ll welcome you back without judgement. Our priority is making sure you’re safe and supported. You may be offered a return home interview to talk about what happened and how we can help prevent it happening again.

For more detailed information download our Staying away from home leaflet, which you’ll received in your welcome pack.
