Safer recruitment for Ofsted registered services

At Sanctuary Supported Living, our teams play a vital role in helping young people move forward with confidence. We focus on what matters most to them: building on their strengths, creating positive support networks, and working together to achieve meaningful goals.

Whether it’s returning to education, finding fulfilling work or forming new friendships, our project workers make a real difference every day. Through consistent, compassionate support, you’ll help young people develop essential life skills and navigate their journey into adulthood with greater ease.

Our management roles are just as impactful. They provide strong leadership and ensure our services run safely, smoothly and in line with the highest safeguarding standards.

No matter the role, Safer Recruitment is a key part of our commitment to keeping children safe. When recruiting people to work with children, we take great care to select those who are right for the job by:

  • Attracting the best possible applicants to each vacancy

  • Deterring individuals who are unsuitable for working with vulnerable young people and adults

  • Identifying and rejecting applicants who are not suitable for this type of work

We use a values-based approach to recruitment. This means we look at what candidates believe, how they behave and the attitudes they bring. It helps us make sure they are the right fit for the role and for the people we support.

Recruitment process

To support young people in building their independence, we need the right people in the right roles. That’s why our recruitment process is designed to be both thorough and fair.

Get your application ready

When completing your application form (PDF 159KB) make sure to highlight your experience and the values that guide your work. We’re looking forward to learning more about you and what you could bring to the team.

Initial screening

We take time to carefully review each application to make sure candidates meet our criteria. We’re looking for people who share our commitment to safeguarding and who want to make a positive difference in the lives of young people.

Interviews

If you're shortlisted, you'll be invited to a face-to-face interview. This is our chance to get to know you better - your experience, your motivations and what makes you unique.

Our interviews are friendly and welcoming, designed to help you feel comfortable and confident. At least one person involved in the process will have completed Safer Recruitment training, so you can be assured we understand what matters most when it comes to keeping people safe.

Employment checks

All job offers depend on passing a series of checks. These checks help us make sure our teams are safe, suitable and ready to support young people.

We’ll carry out:

  • A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate check

  • Reference checks

  • A complete employment history check

  • An identity check

  • A right to work check

Final selection

If you're selected, we’ll give you a call to share the good news, followed by an email with all the details. We’re excited to welcome you and look forward to the positive impact we’ll make together.
