Torbay Domestic Abuse Service (TDAS)

Our highly professional, fully trained, and compassionate teams work across communities in Torbay; providing personalised support services to help victims change or move on from abusive relationships.    We work to make sure survivors of domestic abuse are believed, know abuse is not their fault and that their experiences have been understood. 

Domestic abuse is any incident or pattern of incidents of controlling, coercive or threatening behaviour, violence, or abuse. It is the misuse of power and control by one person over another. It is never acceptable, and we are here to help. 

We run courses which aim to support, inform, and empower victims and survivors of domestic abuse. Our courses include:

We’re here for you every step of the way. Whether you’re considering leaving a relationship, have decided to stay, or have already left, we’re here to provide the support you need. 

We can provide both office and community-based support, tailoring our approach to what feels most comfortable for you. Our one-to-one and group support sessions provide a safe, non-judgemental space where you can openly share your feelings and concerns. We also have a refuge where you can feel safe. If English isn’t your first language, we can arrange for an interpreter in your preferred language to make sure you feel heard and supported. We even have provisions for British Sign Language.

As a trauma-informed service, we acknowledge the deep impact of abuse and the journey towards healing. Our professionals are trained to recognise and respond effectively to the signs of domestic abuse, so you receive the empathy and understanding you deserve.

Sanctuary Supported Living is part of Sanctuary, which is regulated by the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH). The RSH is the government body for the social housing sector. It sets standards for social housing providers and can take action if they’re breached. 

If you’re a customer and you have a problem with one of our services, the first step is to speak to your Local Service Manager, who will try to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. If you are still not happy, you can follow our complaints process, which explains how to make a complaint and what to expect from us.  

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Housing Ombudsman Service, which is an independent organisation that deals with disputes between landlords and tenants.
