Gill Carpenter
Project Worker Gill Carpenter says she is proud to be part of a dedicated Sanctuary Supported Living team helping young people in Weston-super-Mare.
Gill works with 16 to 25-year-olds at Weston Foyer and Moorland Road, supporting them with skills to maintain a tenancy as well as signposting them to other services and supporting them with employment and education opportunities.
Since joining Sanctuary Supported Living in April 2017, Gill has helped many young people and been involved in the Get on Track initiative with the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust.
This saw elite athletes mentor Weston Foyer residents, helping them to improve their confidence and self-esteem through sporting activities.
Gill has also been the driving force behind the creation of a mental health counselling programme across both services, forging links with local charity In Charley’s Memory to run weekly drop-in sessions.
Gill takes great pride in seeing a resident she has supported move on to their own independent accommodation.
I am proud to be part of a small, dedicated team who look after each other and pull together. Our team are solution-focused with no ‘blame’ ethic and that is priceless. We work in a supportive and transparent way for the good of our residents.
