Sanctuary Supported Living's annual gardening competition is now open

Sanctuary Supported Living’s Ready Steady Grow competition is back and with new categories and more prizes for 2024, it’s set to be the most exciting year yet!

Ready Steady Grow, run by Sanctuary’s resident engagement team, is a unique opportunity for residents and customers from across our supported living services, retirement communities and technology enabled living services to improve their mental wellbeing, engage in meaningful interactions, and enjoy the simple pleasures of being outdoors.

This year, we’re thrilled to introduce two brand new and exciting themes: Keep Calm, Love Plants and Best Fruit and Veg Patch. Plus, we’ve added a new category for the Tallest Sunflower. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or a budding green thumb, there’s something for everyone!

Every participant will receive a certificate of recognition and winners will be awarded a trophy and a gift card up to £200 to spend at B&Q. We’ve also introduced spot prizes this year to add an extra layer of excitement to the competition.

Last year, we saw some amazing gardens and Thurrock Teenage Parents Supported Housing at Ruth House bagged first place in the ‘Best Garden or Space’ category thanks to the collective efforts of staff, residents, and their children.

"Let’s get our hands dirty, have some fun, and see what sprouts in 2024!"

Sue Nutter, Resident Engagement Officer

Resident Engagement Officer, Sue Nutter, said: “Ready Steady Grow is more than a competition; it’s a celebration of community, creativity, and the healing power of nature. So, let’s get our hands dirty, have some fun, and see what sprouts in 2024!”

To join in on the fun this year, simply register your interest at speakup@sanctuary.co.uk and a member of the team will confirm what to do next. The closing date for this year’s event is Monday 15 July.
