Sanctuary Supported Living
Adult social care doesn’t always get the credit it deserves.
For many people, it’s a sector they don’t think about until they come across it by chance, often through a career change, a conversation that sparks curiosity, or a family experience. But at Sanctuary Supported Living, adult social care is about something simple and powerful: supporting people to live independently and confidently in their own way.
Across our support services, every role contributes to that outcome. Whether you’re working directly with customers, managing the service, or supporting behind the scenes, the purpose is shared.
Supporting people to live the life they choose
Supported living is about partnership. Our teams work alongside people to help them build skills, make informed choices and make a fresh start to take control of their lives. That might mean supporting someone to manage their tenancy, create good routines, attend appointments or work towards longer term goals like employment or further learning.
There’s no one size fits all approach. Support is shaped around everyone, at their pace, with respect and trust at the centre.
Moments that make the job worthwhile
The most rewarding moments often come quietly. A customer taking a step they once avoided. Someone expressing confidence where there was uncertainty before. Progress doesn’t always arrive with fanfare, but it’s meaningful and lasting.
When you work in adult social care, you see the impact of your work build over time. It’s motivating, grounding and surprisingly uplifting.
A career open to different experiences
Many Sanctuary Supported Living colleagues come from completely different backgrounds. Retail, hospitality, office roles, customer service and education all bring valuable skills. Being able to listen, communicate clearly, stay organised and adapt to different situations matters far more than any care experience.
If you’re new to the sector, you won’t be expected to know everything on day one. You’ll be supported through training, guidance and everyday learning that helps you grow into your role with confidence.
Not your stereotypical role
Working in adult social care isn’t always what people expect. It can mean standing alongside a young person who needs stability after time in the care system, being a trusted presence who believes in them and helps them recognise the potential they may not yet see in themselves.
It might involve empowering someone with a learning disability to build confidence, skills and independence they once thought were out of reach. Or it could be supporting someone who has experienced rough sleeping as they rebuild their sense of purpose and rediscover what a brighter future can look like.
This work is rooted in connection, encouragement and possibility. It is vibrant and rewarding, filled with moments of pride, genuine joy and plenty of laughter, shared by the people we support and the teams who walk alongside them every day.
