Located in the charming town of Marple, Portland House provides apartments and communal facilities for over 55s. 

Designed to offer comfort, independence and peace of mind, Portland House has everything you need to enjoy a happy, fulfilling retirement.

At Portland House you'll find: 

  • One or two double bedroom apartments, with open plan lounge and kitchen  
  • On-site communal facilities, including a lounge
  • Staff on-site 24 hours a day and assistive technology built in to help you make the most of every day  

Who can apply:

  • People aged 55 or over requiring a minimum of 6 hours of care per week
  • Applicants who reside in, or have a family connection to the local area
  • Applicants who have care and support needs assessed and approved by Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council.

Our building

Portland House has a communal lounge, kitchen, laundry room and guest suite. There is an accessible bathroom and lifts to all floors.

Your apartment

Your new home is unfurnished so you can make it your own. It has an open plan lounge and fitted kitchen, one or two double bedrooms, and a level-access shower room.

There is Wi-Fi in communal areas. Pull cords are fitted in every apartment, and optional assistive technology is available to complement your lifestyle. This can be purchased at an additional cost.

Apartments are available to rent for one or two people. You may be eligible for financial assistance towards your rent from Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council.

How do I apply?
 

  1. Contact us for an application form or contact Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council. 

  1. We’ll arrange for you to visit and meet us. 

  1. We’ll help you to complete a housing assessment and affordability form, as you may be eligible for financial assistance towards your rent and part of your service charge. 

  1. While you’re here, we may assess if you would benefit from care and support services, and our care provider may arrange to visit you at home to discuss your needs. For your care to be funded by Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council you must have had your needs assessed and approved by the adult social care team.
