Nickleby Road has 18 bedrooms spread across five shared houses and provides supported housing. Berwick Avenue has three bedrooms in a shared house, providing a short-term move-on service for residents who have lower support needs. Staff support adults aged 18 to 65, with a range of learning disabilities.

A total of 21 part-furnished single-occupancy bedrooms within six shared houses.

All the shared houses have a lounge, dining room, kitchen and bathroom. Residents also have access to an activity room and a large shared garden.

Staff office on-site, an out-of-hours service and secure door access system help to ensure residents feel safe and secure.

Communal WiFi is available to all residents in all communal areas.

Support planning

Staff draw up a personalised support plan with residents using the Life Star model, with the aim of moving on to independent living.

Staff availability

Our highly-trained staff are available to contact at the main Nickleby Road service for various hours, seven days a week. Staff are also on stand-by outside of these hours, should residents require any further support.

  • Maintaining a tenancy
  • Managing finances (budgeting and benefits)
  • Cooking, cleaning and shopping
  • Building positive relationships
  • Developing hobbies and interests
  • Maintaining health, safety and security
  • Signposting and accessing other services
  • Planning a successful move-on

Additional support services

We also provide follow-on support when residents move on to live independently.Care and Support


To be eligible for a place at Nickleby Road, applicants must:

  • Be aged 18 to 65
  • Have a learning disability and/or autism
  • Require a minimum of 5 hours support per week

To apply, please complete the enquiry form below and ask for an application form. We also accept referrals from Essex County Council’s adult social team. 

All support needs will be assessed before an application is accepted.
