Sudbury Young People Supported Housing has two buildings in Sudbury. There are 14 bedrooms at Ballingdon Street and 10 bedrooms at Crofton House. We provide support for vulnerable young people aged 16 to 21, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

At both Ballingdon Street and Crofton House, the communal facilities include a lounge, dining area, kitchen and garden.

Both services have a staff office with overnight concierge, CCTV and a secure door access system to ensure residents’ safety and security.

Support planning

Staff draw up a personalised care and support plan with residents using the Homelessness Outcomes Star, to help them achieve their aims and goals.

Staff availability

Our highly-trained staff are on-site various hours to suit residents’ needs, including overnight. There is an overnight concierge service and an out-of-hours telephone service, should residents require further support outside of office hours.

Tailored support, advice and assistance includes

  • Maintaining a tenancy
  • Managing finances (budgeting and benefits)
  • Cooking, cleaning and shopping
  • Building confidence, resilience and self-esteem
  • Developing hobbies and interests
  • Dealing with correspondence
  • Accessing education, training and work
  • Maintaining health, safety and security
  • Signposting and accessing other services
  • Planning a successful move-on

Additional support services

We also provide follow-on support when residents move on to live independently.


To be eligible for a place at Sudbury Young People Supported Housing, applicants must be:

  • Aged 16 to 21
  • Homeless or at risk of homelessness
  • Willing to access housing-related support and engage with our services
  • Assessed as low-risk and require low to medium level support

How to apply

We accept referrals from Suffolk County Council. To apply, please follow the instructions on the Suffolk County Council Housing Related Support page. All support needs will be assessed before an application is accepted.
