The Star Project

The Star Project has four schemes spread across Hove, comprised of 32 bedrooms in four shared houses. We provide short-term personal care (primarily managing medication) and support, for adults aged 18 and over, with a range of mental health needs.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the national independent regulator of all health and social care services in England.They inspect and monitor care homes, nursing homes and supported housing where personal care is provided and produce reports about them, to help you find a service that suits you.



Four schemes across Hove, all within easy reach of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, parks, public transport connections and the seafront.

7 bedrooms at Pegasus House, 8 bedrooms at Columba House, 8 bedrooms at Sirius House and 9 bedrooms at Orion House. All bedrooms are fully-furnished.

Care and support planning

Staff draw up a personalised care and support plan with residents using the Mental Health Recovery Star model.

Staff availability

Our highly-trained staff are on-site from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week. There is a concierge service and an out-of-hours telephone service, should residents require any further support.

  • Daily living skills
  • Managing finances (budgeting and benefits)
  • Managing personal care and medication
  • Building confidence, resilience and self-esteem
  • Managing mental health needs
  • Maintaining appropriate behaviour and good communication
  • Managing rent and rent arrears
  • Accessing education, training and work
  • Signposting and accessing other services
  • Planning a successful move-on

Additional support services

We also provide follow-on support for up to six weeks, when residents move on to live independently.

Care and Support


To be eligible for a place at The Star Project, applicants must:

  • Be aged 18 or over
  • Have an on-going mental health need
  • Be ready to engage with the recovery model

How to apply

We only accept referrals from social care or mental health professionals, through Brighton and Hove City Council. All care and support needs will be assessed before an application is accepted.
