Thurrock Teenage Parents Supported Housing has 9 bedrooms, 7 one-bedroom flats and 2 two-bedroom flats, spread across 4 shared houses. We provide support for single young people aged 16 to 25, who are pregnant, or have a child or children. We encourage young parents to develop their skills, increase their self-confidence and live as independently as possible.

All houses have a communal lounge, kitchen bathroom and garden. There is WiFi throughout the communal areas in Ruth house.

Staff office on-site, CCTV and a secure door access system to ensure residents’ safety and security.

All rooms are let on a licence agreement and all flats are let on an assured shorthold tenancy agreement with Clarion Housing.

Communal WiFi is available to all residents in all communal areas.

Support planning

Staff draw up a personalised support plan with residents using the Young Person’s Star model. Residents are encouraged to build on their skills and strengths, with the aim of moving on to independent accommodation with two years.

Staff availability

Our highly-trained staff are on-site from 9am to 10pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 1pm on Saturday and Sunday. There is also an out-of-hours telephone service, if residents require any further support.

We also provide community-based support to clients in the local area.

  • Managing finances (budgeting and benefits)
  • Cooking, cleaning and shopping
  • Parenting skills
  • Accessing education, training and employment
  • Maintaining health, safety and security
  • Maintaining appropriate behaviour and good communication
  • Building confidence, resilience and self-esteem
  • Signposting and accessing other services


To be eligible for a place at Thurrock Teenage Parents, applicants must:

  • Be single and aged 16 to 25
  • Be pregnant, or have a child or children
  • Clients must have a five-year connection to the borough
