Gym volunteer with Project Workers from Cavendish Lodge with Easter egg donations

Vulnerable clients of a homelessness supported housing service have had a cracking Easter, thanks to the generosity of the Ipswich community.

Staff and clients at Sanctuary Supported Living’s Cavendish Lodge, which provides supported housing accommodation and personalised support for adults who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, were overwhelmed with the response to their Easter appeal over the bank holiday weekend. Project Worker, Laura Weston, took to social media to ask for any donations – big or small – to spread some smiles for residents of the service in Ipswich.

Amongst those who responded was independent Outreach Worker, Jay, who has experienced homelessness himself and runs a self-funded outreach project from the back of his car with his dog, Brooke. He stopped by Cavendish Lodge to donate a whopping 40 Easter Eggs to Sanctuary Supported Living’s homelessness service, and his enormous generosity was matched by The Gym Group, a local gym who had been collecting sweet treats since March. Finally, Sainbury’s pitched in with a £30 voucher for residents to buy more Easter goodies with.

"We’re so pleased that our customers could enjoy Easter like everybody else."

Project Worker, Laura

Residents were thrilled with such community kindness, and Project Worker, Laura, said: “We’re so pleased that our clients could enjoy Easter like everybody else. This simply wouldn’t have been possible without the support of people from all over the area. It’s humbling that so many individuals and businesses have been so generous, and it means a lot to us that they recognise the work we do and want to help. The community has pulled together to help those less fortunate, and it’s this kindness that really makes a difference in supporting clients so they can work towards a happy and independent future.”
