Norton Road triumphs at Great British Care Awards for the third time

18th November 2022

Sanctuary Supported Living

Norton Road enjoyed a night celebrating at the gala event with their colleagues

Sanctuary Supported Living is celebrating the success of its team at Norton Road, which provides accommodation and support for homeless and vulnerable young people and families in Stockton-on-Tees.

The Great British Care Awards regional final for the North East took place at the Grand Hotel Gosforth Park in Newcastle, and paid tribute to those who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within social care. Norton Road was crowned winners of the Housing with Care Award. The team’s commitment to providing person centred services to vulnerable people topped eleven other finalists for the regional award, including Sanctuary Supported Living’s own Victoria Road.

Having interviewed Local Service Manager, Heather Davies, judges commented “If anyone else on the team has the same energy and passion for the job as Heather, then I am not surprised that this team are delivering such a high standard service.”

This is Norton Road’s third victory in the Housing with Care Award category, after winning the prestigious industry award in 2021, and 2019, when Project Worker, Tracey Godfrey, took home both the regional award, and the national award for going over and above in providing tailored support for residents at the homelessness supported housing service.

The team have their fingers crossed that their success will continue into next year’s national finals, where Sanctuary Supported Living is also in the running for the Care Employer Award.  The national final will see all regional winners go head-to-head at the ICC in Birmingham in March 2023.

"We’re bursting with pride for Sanctuary Supported Living"

Heather Davies, Local Service Manager

Heather Davies said: “I am over the moon for the staff at Norton Road who deserve this achievement in recognition of their commitment and hard work. I hope that we continue to triumph at the finals in March next year. We had a great night celebrating with our colleagues at the gala event, and we’re bursting with pride for Sanctuary Supported Living.”
