Staff and residents at a Suffolk retirement community are celebrating following a successful inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Sanctuary Supported Living’s Exning Court in Newmarket provides personal care and support to older people living in apartments with communal facilities, and was inspected as part of the CQC’s response to the pandemic.

Inspectors looked at the service’s approach to providing personal care to the residents who need it and checked on areas including hygiene, PPE, testing and visiting procedures. They also noted that Covid-specific policies and care plans were in place to make sure that residents were kept safe and their needs met.

Throughout the pandemic, residents’ relatives were encouraged to stay in touch and this was made possible, for example, by using technology and safe, face-to-face visits in well-ventilated spaces or outdoors. When restrictions were lifted, family visits took place according to government guidance.

Hanna Tirrell, Retirement Living Manager, said; “We were pleased to welcome the Care Quality Commission inspectors to Exning Court and share with them our commitment to keeping residents and staff safe and well throughout the pandemic and beyond.”

Situated in the leafy rural village of Exning, near Newmarket, Exning Court provides apartments and communal facilities for over 55s.

Designed to offer comfort, independence and peace of mind, Exning Court has everything you need to enjoy a happy, fulfilling retirement.
