Young residents from two supported housing services in Basildon took to the open waters and embarked on a sailing trip of a lifetime. Swan House and Dove Cott House, run by Swan Care and Support, part of Sanctuary Supported Living, teamed up with young people’s charity The Cirdan Trust to offer their clients the chance to experience the challenge and adventure of life at sea on a large sailing vessel.

October 10 is World Mental Health Day, which also coincides with World Homelessness Day. Many millions of people experience mental illness which can hold people back from fulfilling their potential and living a full and purposeful life. Whilst it might be a coincidence that these two world days occur on the same day, mental health illness and homelessness are not mutually exclusive but often inextricably linked.
