The awards ceremony for the North East region of the Great British Care Awards 2020-21 took place on Tuesday 20 June, as a celebration of the hard work and dedication of staff from across the care sector, and to pay tribute to people who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.

The team at Norton Road were named as winners in the ‘Housing with Care’ award, with judges commenting that it is “a fantastic service dealing with extremely vulnerable and high-risk young people and families. [There is] strong evidence of a very caring environment that never gives up on people and looks for opportunities for achieving success.”

This is the second year of Great British Care Awards success in a row for staff at Norton Road, with Project Worker Tracey Godfrey winning the regional award and subsequently the national award in the ‘Housing with Care’ category last year. The service will now go through to this year’s national finals, which will be held at the ICC in Birmingham in September.
