Sanctuary Supported Living
Blackberry Court, Sanctuary Supported Living’s newest retirement community in Streethay near Lichfield, has been named a finalist in two categories at the prestigious Inside Housing Development Awards:
· Best Partnership – 100+ Homes
· Best Supported Housing Development – Rural/Suburban
This recognition celebrates the exceptional collaboration between Sanctuary’s Development, Supported Living and Commercial teams, along with developer Keon Homes and highlights the impact of Blackberry Court as a model for high-quality retirement communities.
Opened in August 2025, Blackberry Court located within The Maples retirement village, offers 78 stylish one- and two-bedroom rental apartments for people aged 55 and over, designed to promote comfort, independence, and community. The Maples retirement village also features 60 bungalows available through rental and shared ownership.
Residents enjoy a range of on-site amenities, including a gym, communal lounge, hair salon, and beautifully landscaped gardens. At the heart of the community is 1085 Restaurant, a vibrant bistro-style dining destination named in tribute to the year construction began on Lichfield Cathedral.
Dave Shaw, Director at Sanctuary Supported Living, said:
“Being shortlisted for these awards is a testament to the dedication and teamwork across our organisation. Blackberry Court is a shining example of what we can achieve together, and we’re proud to see it recognised nationally. At its heart, Blackberry Court is built around resident wellbeing - a vibrant, sustainable community within a community that supports health and connection for everyone who calls it home.”
