Sanctuary Supported Living

Staff at Sanctuary Supported Living celebrate homelessness partnership in Norfolk

Sanctuary Supported Living and Your Own Place have partnered to run a series of interactive workshops with people who have experienced homelessness in Norfolk.

Your Own Place CIC will help people supported by 20 Sanctuary Supported Living services to explore their skills and aspirations. The workshops will run for six months and help shape an initiative that will benefit the participants and others who may be facing similar circumstances.

Your Own Place is a local organisation with expertise in tackling homelessness in communities, building on the strengths and skills of people and places.

The initiative is being supported by a grant from Sanctuary’s community investment programme which aims to build resilience and connection with residents and their communities.  It is hoped that the workshops will help gain a deeper insight into the aspiration of our clients to support them on their pathway to independence.

Katie Baker, Local Service Manager, said; “I’m really looking forward to working with the team at Your Own Place to empower our clients to use their voice to shape our services. It’s a new opportunity to hear from a large number of clients about what they would like to see from Sanctuary Supported Living, which may feed in to local strategies for the future of homeless services in Norfolk.”

"We are very excited to be working with Sanctuary Supported Living residents to support them to thrive as they move to independence - all with the aim of preventing homelessness."

Rebecca White, CEO, Your Own Place CIC

Rebecca White CEO, Your Own Place, said: “We love working with people to make sure that not only their voices are heard, but also their confidence and empowerment grows around influencing the services they receive. We are very excited to be working with Sanctuary Supported Living residents to support them to thrive as they move to independence - all with the aim of preventing homelessness.”

Sanctuary is a not-for-profit organisation and re-invests surpluses into the business and developing sustainable communities through its Community Investment Fund. Through supported housing, people who have faced or experienced homelessness can build their skills and resilience to break the cycle of repeat homelessness and maintain happy and independent lives.
