Sanctuary Supported Living have been nominated for thirteen top care awards

Celebrations are in order for Sanctuary Supported Living and its staff across the country, as they’ve been shortlisted for thirteen awards, across the West Midlands region, the East of England region, the North East region, the South East region, the South West region, and the London region of The Great British Care Awards.

The national provider, which provides supported housing, supported housing with care, and residential care and nursing homes for vulnerable people - including those with learning and physical disabilities - has been shortlisted for The Care Employer award, whilst twelve of its supported living services have been shortlisted in different categories for 2022-2023.

The awards pay tribute to individuals who have demonstrated excellence within their field of work:

The West Midlands region

Gary Fletcher, Chef Manager at Rose Manor in Telford, has been shortlisted for The Care Home Cook/Chef Award in recognition of his dedication, skill, and love for food, which has helped to develop and transform menus as well as the lives of older residents and who enjoy delicious, home-cooked meals with their friends and visitors.

The South West region

The team at Moreton Court in Bideford have been shortlisted for The Putting People First Award, in honour of their shared vision and commitment to providing exceptional whole person, extra care services to improve residents’ potential to have full and purposeful lives.

The South East region

A hattrick of shortlists for the South East region; Sussex Avenue in Canterbury are up for The Putting People First Award, Wimborne House’s Chef Manager, Kay Boakes, is up for The Care Home Cook/Chef Award, and Nicky Penfold-White is up for The Home Care Registered Manager Award for brilliantly leading and motivating her team at St Bartholomew’s Court in Rye.

The North East region

There are triple finalists in the North East region, as the team at Jazz Court in Scarborough have been selected for The Putting People First Award, as well as both Victoria Road in Hartlepool and Norton Road in Stockton-on-Tees who will battle it out for The Housing with Care Award.

The East of England region

Sidegate Lane in Ipswich are celebrating a double whammy, as Kristina Fisher and Sapphira Large have been shortlisted for The Care Home Activity Organiser Award, and Maintenance and Domestic Supervisor, Simon Allard, is through to the final for The Ancillary Worker Award. Doddington Court’s Chef Manager, Emma Hunt, is also in the running for The Care Home Cook/Chef Award for serving tasty, home-cooked food at the retirement community in March.  

The London region

Lindi Urubusi is through to the final for The Care Home Registered Manager Award for her dedication to Compton Road, a CQC ‘Good’ residential care and support for adults with a range of learning disabilities.

I know they’ve been working harder than ever whilst battling post Covid-19 challenges, and national recruitment shortages, so to have thirteen nominations making the regional finals is a fantastic recognition of their efforts and the wonderful work they do to provide the best care and support for residents every day. I’m really looking forward to celebrating with our outstanding colleagues.”

The virtual judging of The Great British Care Awards are already underway, with the overall winners being announced at their respective celebratory gala event in each region:

  • The East of England region at Milton Keynes Dons on 3 November 2022
  • The West Midlands region at the International Conference Centre, Birmingham on 5 November 2022
  • The North East region at Grand Hotel Gosforth Park, Newcastle on 10 November 2022
  • The North West region at Kimpton Clocktower Hotel, Manchester on 12 November 2022
  • The South West region at Ashton Gate Stadium, Bristol on 17 November 2022
  • The South East region at Hilton Brighton Metropole Hotel, Brighton on 18 November 2022
  • The London region at London Hilton Bankside Hotel, London on 19 November 2022
