Sanctuary Supported Living staff are celebrating after being named as a finalist in two categories at the West Midlands region of the Great British Care Awards 2021.
Sanctuary Supported Living offers a range of accommodation with personalised care and support for vulnerable adults and young people - including people who have learning or physical disabilities, people with mental health needs and people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
The supported housing provider has been shortlisted in The Care Employer Award category at the regional Great British Care Awards, which recognises and celebrates exceptional employers, their commitment to care and how they are successfully delivering high-quality care to the people they support.
The Care Employer award is the sixth category in which Sanctuary Supported Living has been shortlisted at this year’s Great British Care Awards, following recent nominations in the Putting People First and Personalisation award, the Care Newcomer award, the Housing with Care award and the Frontline Leader award at the East of England region, as well as the Frontline Leader award for Local Service Manager Samantha McCrindle in the South West region.
This is also the third time that Sanctuary Supported Living has been recognised for its dedication to its staff, after previously winning the Care Employer award at the West Midlands region in 2019, and also being named as a finalist in the Employer Award category at this year’s national Learning Disability and Autism awards last month.

As well as Sanctuary Supported Living being shortlisted for the Care Employer Award, Margie Hudson, a Care and Support Assistant at Sanctuary Supported Living’s Eastgate, a residential care home for people with learning disabilities in Stoke-on-Trent, has also been named as a finalist in the Care Home Worker category. She was nominated for going over and above in her role and treating both residents and her colleagues like part of her extended family. Margie was nominated by Local Service Manager Gary Tideswell, who said: “Everyone knows that they can speak to Margie and that she will always lend an ear and help them wherever she can. She does not just go the extra mile for the residents and staff here at Eastgate - she runs a marathon for them.”
The judging of the West Midlands region of the Great British Care Awards will take place virtually, with the overall winners being announced at the awards ceremony, which will be held at Birmingham ICC on Saturday 30 October.
