There’s cause for celebration at Sanctuary Supported Living’s Skelton Court, after the service was shortlisted at the East Midlands region of the Great British Care Awards 2021.

Skelton Court, a residential care home for people with learning disabilities and complex needs in Leicester, has been named as a finalist in the Social Care Covid Hero category, in recognition of the way staff cared for and supported residents, even during the most difficult times in the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This is the second awards success for the team, after they were also shortlisted in the Supporting Older People with Learning Disabilities category at the national Learning Disabilities and Autism Awards. They were recognised for the way they passionately promote dignity and respect, and give residents access to the same opportunities as anyone else.

Nikki Oakley, Local Service Manager for Skelton Court, said: “I’m so proud of my team for everything they’ve achieved, especially after all they and the residents have been through with Covid. It was a big surprise for us to even be nominated for a Learning Disability and Autism award, so to be nominated for a Great British Care Award as well is really the icing on the cake.”

"I’m so proud of my team for everything they’ve achieved."

Judging for the East Midlands region will be held virtually, with the winners being announced at the awards night on Thursday 25 November, at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham.
