Keah Donlon, who works at Sanctuary Supported Living’s Shaftesbury Court in Trowbridge has been recognised with a national Teen Hero award by BBC Radio 1.
Keah, 18, works part-time at the service while studying Health and Social Care at Wiltshire College, and was surprised live on the Breakfast show by presenter Greg James, as well as with messages from former One Direction member, Niall Horan and members of the Holby City cast. She is now looking forward to a visit to Kensington Palace to meet HRH Prince William, The Duke of Cambridge.
Each year, Radio 1 celebrates Teen Heroes – young people who make the world a better place – and Keah has received the accolade for her incredible perseverance in tragic circumstances. Keah’s mum suffered a brainstem bleed in 2019 and while she was in the ICU, her father sadly passed away after a long illness.
Since then, Keah has dedicated her life to helping others; caring for her mum at home while working part-time in a care home supporting people with physical and learning disabilities, and being part of the Young Carer’s council, supporting other young carers in the area.
