Location in a quiet, residential area, Southend Teenage Parents Supported Housing has 10 bedrooms in a shared house. We provide support for young people aged 16 to 19, who are pregnant or have a child. It encourages young parents to develop their skills and live as independently as possible.

Support planning

Staff draw up a personalised support plan with residents using the Young Person’s Star model. Residents are encouraged to build on their skills and strengths, with the aim of moving on to independent accommodation within two years.

Staff availability

Our highly-trained staff are on-site from 9am to 9pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 1pm on Saturday and Sunday. There is also an out-of-hours telephone service, if residents require any further support.

To be eligible for a place at Southend Teenage Parents, applicants must:

  • Be single and aged 16 to 19
  • Be pregnant, or have a child or children

How to apply

We accept referrals from Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, where the Teenage Pregnancy Co-ordinator will assess suitability for supported housing. All support needs will be assessed before an application is accepted.
